New flight routine Changsa (China) - Vientiane
Lao Airlines operates twice weekly flights connecting Vientiane to Changsha in Hunan province, China, starting from 31 August 2015
Initially, the airline will offer twice weekly flights on Monday and Friday with a departure time of 12:40 from Vientiane and an arrival time in Changsha of 16:25 local time. The return flight will depart Changsha at 17:15 and arrive in Vientiane at 19:00.
Destination highlight: Ramayana show
The performance of the Phralak Phralam lasts approximately two hours and is held in the theatre of the former Royal Palace of Luang Prabang, which was formerly used as the royal ballroom and reception room. The room can accommodate a great number of people, and in the evening it is specially lighted to great effect. Guests can hear cicadas, crickets and frogs in the palace gardens which echo the sounds of the orchestra. The music accompanies and illustrates the nine dances of the Phralak Phralam. Each evening, two of the nine dances are performed and totality of the performances invoke the ancient royal kingdom of Lane Xang.[Read more]
 Inthira Hotel Vang Vieng will be closed for renovation from 01 April 2016
 Ban Sabai Vang Vieng will complete the renovation progress in March - April 2016 (the exact day will be updated soon).
 The Parasol Blanc's will open in 1st Quarter of 2016 with 30 rooms in total, 01 outdoor pool, open bar and restaurant.
Wat Xieng Thong won new award of merit
Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang province, has won awards of merit from a list 12 destinations announced under the 2015 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award scheme. The conservation of the exceptionally ornate Xieng Thong Temple has safeguarded the jewel of Luang Prabang architecture and the historic kingdom’s most significant landmark. By combining grassroots efforts with donor support, the project epitomises the spirit of World Heritage in promoting international cooperation for protecting the world’s most iconic heritage places.[Read more]
Electric minibus project for Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang province is about to launch an electric mini-bus project to improve the environment in this World Heritage town.
Once approved, The Electric bus project involves 34 electric mini-buses including 14 provided as a grant from the Japanese government and 20 operated by the Lao Green Company.
Under the project, 100 electric vehicles will be provided by Japan through to 2017. If the project is successful in Luang Prabang, it is considered to be extended to Vientiane and Champassak province.  [Read more]
