Feature of the month: H'Mong New Year
December remarks the begining of New Year with H'Mong people throughout Laos country. The Hmong New Year celebration features colorful displays of traditional costumes made from green, red and white silk and ornate silver jewelry. Music from traditional Hmong instruments such as the teun-flute, Hmong-style khene pipe and leave blowing is enjoyed. Other festivities include the Makkhon (cotton-ball) throwing ceremony, ox fighting, spinning-top races and crossbow demonstrations.
Upcoming Event: Countdown Party
Lao people nationwide will take time out to celebrate the countdown to International New Year 2015 as the clock ticked down to midnight, joining with people around the world as the new year time zone moved around the globe.
Official New Year 2015 countdown events will take place in Luang Prabang, Savannakhet and Champassak, and no doubt there will be party in other provinces to celebrate with people around the world.

News:

 Laos plans to open Atapeu International Airport in May 2015.The airport is designed to be international standard and will be able to support ATR72s with 70-100 seats, Fokker 70, Fokker 100 and MA60 aircraft.
 Laos also plans to build what it calls an international airport in Tonpheung district of Bokeo province to offer and boost convenient for tourist arrivals. The construction of the airport should start early 2015. 
 New Nava Mekong Boat Trip: Nava Mekong launched new boat with capacity of 50 seats and new pier access since 22 December, 2014. 
 Phrathat Sampang Stupa Festival: will take places from 02-04 January 2015 in Champasack Province.
